Wheelchair Seat Centre

Rollstuhl eines Patienten wird angepasst

Better seating for wheelchair users
A wheelchair has to be as functional and as comfortable as possible. It has a direct bearing on its user's quality of life and activity level. However, people in wheelchairs often report that there is a lack of seating stability, that they experience pains in the neck, back and shoulders, and that they have restricted breathing capacity. Spasticity in the legs and pressure points are other frequent complaints.

Strong muscles and high levels of stamina
The aim of the Wheelchair Seat Centre (RSZ) Nottwil is to enhance the quality of life of wheelchair users. Seating position and wheelchair functionality are improved, as are the characteristics of using the wheelchair. A correctly adapted seating unit ideally improves the balance of the wheelchair user, strengthens his muscles and increases his stamina.

Treatment concept
The Wheelchair Seat Centre (RSZ) operates on the basis of the treatment concept developed by the Swiss Paraplegic Centre (SPC) Nottwil. The aim of this concept is to maintain or improve the quality of the treatment delivered in the SPC. This is based on the ICF-Klassifikation applied by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

In addition to the wheelchair and seat management assessment conducted by Ergotherapy, the RSZ also offers comprehensive advice in the areas of orthopaedics, orthopaedic technology, paraplegiology, physiotherapy, as well as in wheelchair mechanics.

The Swiss Paraplegic Centre (SPC) Nottwil offers a wide selection of wheelchairs, seat cushions, as well as seat and back systems. The selection of products comprises virtually all the products available on the market.

Where aids have to be adapted individually, the Wheelchair Seat Centre (RSZ) works with Orthotec AG and other specialist orthopedics businesses.

On request, the RSC will also consider working with wheelchair dealers outside the SPC. The seat assessment and consultancy sessions with the wheelchair dealer take place in SPC Nottwil.
